Normandy’s first trail running resort

Run along the paths of Bagnoles de l'Orne

Bagnoles de l’Orne is Normandy’s first designated Station de Trail® trail running resort and offers a superb natural environment for running. Twelve waymarked trail routes and four training routes are set out along paths through the Forêt des Andaines and the Normandy countryside.

The Station de Trail® concept

The 28 square miles of forest that surround Bagnoles de l’Orne offer an exceptional environment for trail running – a cross-country run that takes place on earth tracks and hiking paths. Did you know that this new form of running race is becoming more and more popular in France?

Bagnoles de l’Orne is a member of the Réseau des Stations de Trail® network, which includes 30 French holiday destinations that are 100 % dedicated to trail running! Waymarked trail runs, more difficult routes designed for training, a welcome centre with showers and lockers, and an events programme make it easy to run in the open air.

Trail-running routes in Bagnoles

The Station de Trail® Bagnoles Normandie has twelve trail-running routes and four training routes of varying levels of difficulty. These routes allow you to get into your stride in the foothills of the Armorican Massif and on paths that take in the forest and the Normandy countryside.

12 waymarked trail-running routes.

The 12 routes, ranging from 3 miles to nearly 37 miles in length, are waymarked throughout and colour-coded green, blue, red and black like ski runs. Each route is numbered and this is indicated in the waymarking. Plan your route using the detailed sheets available on the dedicated Station de Trail® de Bagnoles Normandie website. Each route has its own data sheet with GPX track, length in kilometres and elevation graph.

Four trail-running training routes

There are four short routes designed to improve your technique and develop specific capacities such as pace, stamina and strength: Atelier Côte Longue, Atelier Côte Courte, Boucle Trail and Boucle VMA.

Beginners can familiarise themselves with this discipline through introductory courses to trail running led by Davina. Bagnoles de l’Orne’s sports coach leads participants on a run through the forest, providing good advice so you can get the most of your training session.

The Stations de Trail® smartphone app

The Stations de Trail® smartphone app has lots of ways to plan your run and monitor your performance, including real-time navigation, stopwatch and practical information including time, ascent and distance.

The app enables you to spot places of interest along the route so you can combine your trail run with exploring the area! To get the best from the tools available in the app, which works without a connection, remember to download your route before setting out. That way you can use its navigation feature without the need for an internet connection. So, are you ready to go?
