A complete centre
Do you know this newly fashionable sport? Padel is a racquet sport half-way between tennis and squash. Invented in the 1970s in Mexico, padel is now very popular in Spain.
This game for four players (playing doubles) is easy to learn and accessible to all. Group classes are offered throughout the year, or you could take part in an introductory course during the school holidays.
The padel court is inside the Maxime Merlin tennis centre. Smaller than a tennis court, it is surrounded by glass partitions and grills off which the ball can bounce. The soft court, which is made of sand under a synthetic surface, means it is gentle on the joints.
Padel racquets are much smaller than tennis racquets, don’t have strings and can be made from a variety of materials. A round shape is recommended for beginners. The court can be hired by the hour and the fee includes hire of four racquets and four balls.
