Le Vélorail des Andaines 

At the heart of the Forêt des Andaines, you can follow an old railway line for an unusual 4-mile cycle ride. Suitable for tourists who like to get some exercise, the trail is accessible to everyone and makes for an adventurous and scenic adventure.


Trail running

The 28 square miles of forest that surround Bagnoles de l’Orne offer an exceptional environment for trail running – a cross-country run that takes place on earth tracks and hiking paths. Did you know that this new form of running race is becoming more and more popular in France?

Bagnoles de l’Orne is a member of the Réseau des Stations de Trail® network, which includes 30 French holiday destinations that are 100% dedicated to trail running! Waymarked trail runs, more difficult routes designed for training, a welcome centre with showers and lockers and an events programme make it easy to run in the open air.


Guided Nature Walks

From May to October there are guided nature walks led by one of the Normandy resort of Bagnoles de l’Orne’s nature guides. Details can be found in the calendar.

In spring, you can find out all about the species of trees and shrubs that have for over a 150 years been conserved in an astonishing arboretum in the park around the Château de La Roche-Bagnoles. Whereas, autumn is the perfect time to explore the world of mushrooms or to go foraging in the Forêt des Andaines under the expert eye of a mycologist. Each walk lasts for about 2½ hours, so make sure you bring good shoes!


Discovery Walks

Discovery walks are outdoor excursions accompanied by one of the Normandy resort of Bagnoles de l’Orne’s nature guides. From March to November, Madolyne will guide you along the footpaths of the Forêt des Andaines or the byways of the Normandy countryside.

Discovery walks are suitable for those over the age of 10. Make sure you bring good shoes. Dogs are not permitted. You might want to bring a bottle of water and wet weather clothing.

Fishing

The Department of L’Orne is a good area for fishing and has five lakes that are home to trout, pike, zander, grayling, crayfish and even frogs. Located in the Mayenne basin, Bagnoles de l’Orne lake is the perfect place to enjoy fishing.

Fishing permits are required and can be obtained from the tourist office in Bagnoles de l’Orne.
