Musées de Tinchebray : visite de la Prison Royale

In July and August, visit the Royal Prison Museum on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 2.30pm.

The cells, dungeon and chapel call out to visitors who are almost afraid of coming face to face with one of those Chouans who taunted the Republicans who were once loyal to the bloodthirsty Robespierre.
The visitor then passes through the heavy doorway of the judicial section, entering the judges' "council room" and ending up in the courtroom or "auditorium". And here, surprise, you arrive in the middle of a court hearing.
The visitor is astonished! And he wonders whether he too will be forced to join the gang of "Suspects" who are about to be judged here, and probably sentenced to prison if not to death.
